I hope everyone is enjoying some warmer weather and some more daylight. Either one improves my spirits immensely, but both warmth and light at the same time is really good for my soul. I’ve been doing some beginning work in the daylily garden and am planning for a beautiful season of flowers.
I suspect that some of you were expecting this, but I will make the announcement now.
I am going to have to delay the premier for The Rising River by a month.
It has proven to be a more daunting project than anticipated, and it’s taking me some time to come to terms with not just what the story is but whose story it is to tell. I have also felt the need to explore the setting in a more detail as this is based upon a real place and real events in my hometown. The story is, of course, fictional, but I want to make sure I make the most out of the setting.
Also, I am having to come to terms with the structure of the story. The Rising River was slated to be a story that moves back and forth through time, but in looking at the limitations of the serialized format, I realize that’s just not going to work. That kind of back and forth structure would make the narrative too difficult to follow due to the format. The serialized format is different than if the complete manuscript were in book form for folks to read in one sitting.
The plan is that there will be two seasons of 12-13 episodes each and now starting Thursday, May 2, 2024. This will give me a short hiatus between seasons and have me finishing just before Thanksgiving.
At any rate, thanks for your patience. And do feel free to comment and/or keep in touch. I hope you’re looking forward to reading it.
I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait!
